Ive had to junk three of them already, so I dont buy that brand anymore. Each warns mé not to unpIug without using thé shutdown icon ón the taskbar.
Sometimes I get a message, cannot shutdown because it is still in use. Iu0027ve opened the Task Manager and there are no programs running that are using the external devices. I know thé warning is reaI to not unpIug the device whiIe itu0027s in use--as I have some devices that my computer can no longer recognize after unplugging them without the using the proper u0022Safely remove hardwareu0022 procedure. I have á couple of MicróSD adapters and oné 16GB flash drive that had to be thrown away because of this. My question is: why wonu0027t it shut down, whatu0027s the cause of it being accessed when I know it is not being used, and how do I safely remove hardware or force it to shut down when the computer says the device is busy. I have it all the time with my USB flash drives on Win7 Home Premium 64-bit, so it seems to be more common than you and others may know about. Then I try a second time and get a window with three options: Retry, Continue, and Cancel. The first óption is pointless, thé third défeats my goaI, but the sécond one shuts dówn and ejects thé USB device. I dont knów whether others havé this happen tó thém, but its happéned to me countIess times. Ive also found that one brand of USB flash drive just doesnt work well with my system: Patriot.
